Performant, easy and lightweight

Armie Armstrong, a pioneer in the sport, was one of the early innovators of downwind SUP foiling, introducing it to the 2016 Gorge Paddle Challenge, 2017 Na Pali coast race, and the 2018 Molokai2Oahu race. We have incorporated this historical passion and motivation, along with our latest design knowledge, to create our new range of DW boards.

With sleek lines, innovative volume distribution, and state-of-the-art construction, the Armstrong Down wind boards are fast, stiff, lightweight, and easy to get on foil. Available in five different sizes, Armstrong ensured that everyone who wants to experience the DW stoke is covered.

Not only are these Armstrong DW boards fast, but their high volumes also make them exceptional for light wind winging, SUP surf foiling, and prone downwinding.

Features:

  • The board features a high volume shape, complemented by a subtle deck recess, which provides excellent feel and control, without compromising paddling ease.
  • The V-nose design, coupled with a subtle double concave up to the foil boxes, helps to minimize drag upon touchdown, while the pin tail acts as a fin, providing easy tracking when paddling.
  • The round rails located at the front of the board aid in acceleration into bumps.
  • The bottom chines of the board's shape draw inspiration from our Performance mast foil section, enabling efficient water release and swift acceleration onto bumps.
  • The length to width ratio of the board is optimized across the range, ensuring smooth paddling glide without compromising stability.
  • The board's stiff, lightweight carbon PVC innegra sandwich construction is reinforced with an industry-leading double carbon sandwich stringer system, providing a direct connection to the foil.
  • The board also boasts proprietary custom carbon FG tracks, which enhance its strength, stiffness, and durability.

Why down wind foil boards are popular?

Downwind foil boards are becoming increasingly popular due to the numerous benefits they offer to riders. Some of the reasons for their popularity include:

  1. Increased speed: Downwind foil boards can achieve much higher speeds than traditional paddleboards, making them exciting to ride and allowing riders to cover greater distances more quickly.

  2. Increased efficiency: The foil design of downwind boards allows for efficient use of the wind and waves, reducing the amount of effort required to propel the board forward. This can be particularly beneficial for riders who are looking for a low-impact form of exercise.

  3. Increased versatility: Downwind foil boards can be used for a variety of activities, including stand-up paddleboarding, surfing, and wing foiling. This makes them a versatile investment for riders who enjoy multiple water sports.

  4. Access to new locations: The ability to ride with the wind opens up new locations for riders to explore, allowing them to experience different water conditions and challenges.

  5. Technical challenge: Foiling requires a higher level of skill and control than traditional paddleboarding, making it an appealing challenge for experienced riders who want to push themselves to new levels.

  6. You can ride in super light winds without using a huge wing and still enjoy the surf
